The "stag" is unmissable at the entrance to the pedestrian zone, it is a well-functioning contact point for all cases: For a quick beer at the bar, long squats at the regulars' table or cultivated food in a relaxed atmosphere without gastronomic boasting. Everything you could wish for is there: from Fine de Clair oysters to the "hit of the day" (grilled pork loin on our visit), fishing and an impressive Châteaubriand (for two people or more). The kitchen welcomed us with a fine Tafelspitz aspic, the following "Austria menu" convinced us in every course: hearty, heart and stomach warming the tasty bread soup, successful the duck breast with polenta strudel and pea pods: tender, pink, juicy. The yoghurt pot timbale with fruit pulp for dessert is also perfect. Remarkable is also the wine offer - from which we were able to enjoy a Welschriesling from the Lackner-Tinnacher winery in Gamlitz -, the good-humoured serving staff (also a good sign for the house) and the cheerful mood in which the locals held their ground well (and loudly) even in the tourist season".
