Mountain biking in Zell am See - Kaprun
That's exactly how I imagined it, the forest road winds incessantly towards the sky. Along the lakeside promenade I have warmed up, now I get rid of my clothes layer by layer. It gets warm as the tour leaves the forest and the view becomes clear to the glaciated peaks of the Hohe Tauern ... I am on a mountain bike tour in Zell am See-Kaprun and it is simply wonderful on the way from the valley up to the mountains!
MTB-TOUR TO THE HUNDSTEIN
The Hundstein with its 360° panorama has come a long way. It is the hub of a whole series of distinctive mountain bike tours. Here, bikers have the most diverse combination possibilities. From Bruck over the Erlhofplatte to the summit and down to Thumersbach to the Zeller See. Many also ride from Maria Alm to the Hundstein and choose the south side for the descent to Thumersbach or Bruck. Either way, the Hundstein belongs on your mountain bike to-do list.
In 2002 Kaprun was in the spotlight of the still young mountain bike scene. Torrential rain in the final of the cross-country competitions. Can you remember? Today, more than 15 years later, the Maiskogel is still a mountain bike tour insider tip and several tours lead up to the Gh. Glocknerblick and over beautiful trails into the valley. Between Kaprun Castle, the "Guggenbichl" and the Lechnerberg you can follow the legendary CC course of the 2002 World Championships.
On the sunny side of mountain biking - along the tour from Piesendorf to the Pinzgauhütte and the Hochsonnbergalm there are great conditions early in the year due to the sun. Here you can meet local mountain bikers, even if, or maybe just because there are more than 1,000 metres of altitude difference to be booked for the ascents. The tour destinations and alpine huts reward you with great panoramas of the Hohe Tauern and tasty snacks, some of which are produced by our own regional farmers.
MOUNTAIN BIKING OVER HILLS & STONES
Up on the mountains, where suspension fork and "full suspension" have a lot to do, you will reach the top by mountain bike. High on your suspended "steed" you are in control. Mountain bike tours with lake and mountain views alternate with sporty cross-country race tracks and world-famous bike parks. The more blocky and sporty the trail, the better - that's the motto on the freeride trails on the Kitzsteinhorn, while on easy alpine meadow rounds, enjoyment and relaxation come first.
